We’re delighted to again partner with PerryGolf™ on a voyage along the beautiful Iberian Peninsula, beginning in Lisbon and concluding in Barcelona.
The course line-up includes the well regarded Spanish layout of Montecastillo; Valderrama, consistently rated #1 in continental Europe; and Finca Cortesin, El Saler and Barcelona’s renowned El Prat to complete the five-round program. Golfers have the option to add a three-night pre-cruise option at the highly rated Oitavos Dunes and Penha Longa.
Portimao
From Lisbon, our first stop is Portimao in Portugal’s beautiful Algarve region. This small town boasts a prime location on a cliff looking over the banks of the River Arade. Learn the area’s history at an award-winning museum, sip local wines at an award-winning winery, or take a stroll on the golden sands of Praia da Rocha, a particularly beautiful beach in an area of many beautiful beaches. It should win an award too, if it hasn’t already.
Seville
Seville is one of those cities that combines great beauty and history with loads of Andalusian culture. Enjoy your overnight stay with a visit to the lively tapas-and-wine bars or a flamenco performance. The city itself is a walking treasure hunt. See the tomb of Christopher Columbus in the Gothic-era Seville Cathedral, ornate beyond belief until you visit the Moorish-era Alcázar complex and Mudéjar Palace. Or experience Seville’s medieval history in the bustling Santa Cruz quarter.
Gibraltar
A late stay gives you time to explore Gibraltar’s famous rock, top to bottom. This imposing Mediterranean gateway is home to famous Barbary Macaques, Europe’s only band of wild monkeys. They think they own the place, and maybe they do. There’s also a friendly little town near the port with museums and restaurants to explore.
Mallorca
Sophisticated Palma de Mallorca has a massive Gothic cathedral and ancient Arab Quarter, both worth exploring. You’ll also want to stroll the beautiful seaside promenade, shop for local goods and sample the tapas. Another option is a visit to Mallorca’s beautiful beaches and dramatic caves.
Valencia
Be sure to taste the paella in Valencia, the city that claims to have invented it. Take a tour through impressive Gothic monuments and plazas, or for a more modern view visit the Calatrava-designed City of Arts & Sciences. At the museum L’Almoina, you can view ancient ruins through clear glass floors. This is a great city for biking, with many rivers and canals converted into parks with bedrock paths. We have 15 to 20 bikes on the ship, so sign up for a fun day of guided exploring on two wheels.
Barcelona
Take advantage of your overnight stay in Barcelona to sample the all-night party on La Rambla or see a flamenco show. By day you can tour Gaudi’s masterful Sagrada Familia or whimsical Park Guell, the Gothic Quarter, or Barcelona’s bustling markets.
