Style:
The Insignia is classic in design and style like an upscale British country hotel. The ship has plenty of class and ambiance with its fine art and modern touches.
Fellow passengers:
Insignia's passengers are mainly aged 50 and up. Travellers are from North America with a significant proportion of British people. If the itinerary is closer to home then there are cruisers from Australia and New Zealand.
Dress code:
Oceania keeps its policy simple and casual. Country club attire is generally appropriate for both men and women. In all evening dining venues, passengers are requested to adhere to the dress code.
Food & beverage:
Oceania has a reputation for some of the best cuisine afloat. Alternatives to the Grand Dining room include reservations-only specialty restaurants, Polo Grill and Toscana. Toscana has a satisfying selection of high-end Tuscan specialties while some of the finest steaks at sea can be found at the Polo Grill. The Waves Grill on the pool deck has a salad bar and made-to-order sandwiches.
Dining tips:
Book early for Toscana or Polo Grill as the limited number of spaces fill up fast.
Entertainment:
The entertainment options on board continually ensures your interests are piqued. Enjoy an engaging guest lecture by a historian or naturalist. Relax at a musical performance and later you can try your luck at the casino or go dancing at Horizons.
On-deck:
On the Pool Deck, take a refreshing dip in the large heated pool or relax in one of the two whirlpool spas. Plenty of loungers to relax poolside while you sip your favorite cocktail or read your favourite book. Some of the loungers are undercover so you can relax by the pool even if it is raining.
Summary:
The service is excellent as you would expect with Oceania. This small ship has some of the best cuisine afloat with plenty of places to enjoy a fine wine or cocktail. The entertainment is excellent and I would definitely recommend this ship and cruise line.
